The
Brothers Story

Sam and Justin. Two brothers that epitomize the very essence of this site. Back in 2011, as fate would have it, these two brothers were unknowingly interviewing for the same job opportunity. As they entered the elevator together and ascended several floors, they noticed each other’s obvious interview attire. Usually, how this country is set up, Justin and Sam would have had every excuse not to communicate with each other. For one, Justin is a very dark-skinned brother; whereas, Sam is an extremely light-skinned yellow brother. Secondly, these brothers were competing for a very limited resource in our community, a job. And finally, these two brothers are black, and as we know, most black people don’t associate with each other in a corporate environment.

With all those hurdles, these two brothers still sparked a conversation. They got to know each other a bit and exchanged information. They wished each other luck and proceeded with their interviews. After a couple of days, Justin was contacted by the recruiter with a job offer; but, Sam did not get a call back. They told each other their news, Sam asked Justin to contact the recruiter to see if they’re any more positions and to put in a good word for him. Justin did just that and the recruiter agreed to bring both brothers on board.

Fast forward years later, Sam would be able to repay this kind gesture with a kind gesture of his own. Sam moved on to a better job, and Justin ended up getting laid off from his. Sam put in a good word for Justin and was able to get him onboard.

Since that first elevator introduction, these two brothers have been there for each other. Not only helping each other out for jobs and advancements, but throughout life’s ups and downs. These brothers have both been through issues dealing with; court, baby mama drama, child support, child rearing, discrimination, racism, financial problems, and so forth.

Through it all, Justin and Sam have undoubtedly been each other’s Brothers Keepers. With this site, we would love to extend our story, vision, and experience to all our brothers throughout the globe. We want to change that negative mindset and stigma of putting each other down or stepping on each other to get to the top. We would love to see this type of story be emulated with all our brothers, and we truly come together to collaborate, build, and lift each other up.
